Thanked: 0Hello from Thailand
Hi all, I'm now three shaves in with my new Dovo best quality 5/8 and for the most part it's going pretty well - ie beard under control with no major blood loss!
I'm backpacking around SE Asia at the moment which complicates things a bit but so far no dramas. The shaves have been consistently improving so far, although I am struggling a bit with keeping my lather foamy for more than 30s (it's all limestone around here so I think hard water might be my problem?), I'm going to try a tube of shaving cream when it gets delivered next week which I'm led to believe will help.
Anyway, thanks for the great resource - I may not have been brave enough to give straights a shot without the guides on SRP.
Cheers, Rob

Hi and welcome aboard. Try using bottled water for your lather to see if its the water that's the issue. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 3795Wow! Backpacking around SE Asia sounds like a lot more fun than I'm doing with my life. What is the back story on that, if you don't mind sharing?
Welcome to the forum!

Welcome Rob
How is it traveling with a razor? Have you had any complications entering other countries than Thailand? I'm going to backpack as well next year. Will be going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam maybe Myanmar, we have decided that yet.

Rob, sorry I didn't capitalize your name previously. It wasn't intentional. I have had computer problems ever since the operating system was upgraded but many hours on the phone & I hope it is fixed now. I don't know what it is when I try to capitalize a letter, I guess I need to make sure I press harder on the key!
I hope you are gaining more improvement with each new day.
Best of luck!

Thanked: 0Thanks for the welcome guys. The shaves are still getting better which is always nice...
DNM - not had any issues with border crossings or airports so far, just need to make sure the razor is always in your hold luggage for flights. I think the main difference the travelling has on things for me is that stropping is a bit more difficult (bought a small paddle strop for convenience, which is ok but not ideal).
engine46 - no offence taken, I wouldn't even have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out!
Utopian - To cut a long story short, my wife and I were both made redundant recently (low oil price means oil and gas companies laying people off left, right and centre) which made us think about what we want to do and where we want to be. So we decided to use the money we've been saving to buy a house to travel around the world with.
