I'm not new to wet shaving but I'm wanting to get into straight razor shaving. I have used an adjustable Gillette safety razor for the last decade. I bought my first straight razor years ago. A Pakistani "Selective" brand.
Needless to say I never did get to shave with it. I recently bought a straight razor that uses single edge razors. Does a decent job and getting better with each shave as I get used to it. I really want to get a real straight though. I've spent the last couple days browsing forums and stumbled on whippeddog's site.
My budget for a razor is only in the 40-50 dollar range. I am considering one of the whippeddog sight unseen razors but not sure. I prefer a razor that looks good, without rust spots. So far ebay and whippeddog are the only places I've found any.
Any one have a different site I might try? I did check the classified but nothing really jumped out at me.

JMO, but nothing jumped out at you on Larry's site either, so why not pay your $50 on a razor you can see? Not criticizing, just curious.

Thanked: 4828The razors on our classifieds has been a little light lately but i have seen many many nice razors go through at the $50 to $70 range, of course there are more at the $70 than $50 but if you wait and watch you will see some very nice razors for not much. As for Ebay it depends on who is selling. There are very few shave ready and nice razors sold on eBay for your budget. Sight unseen is always a shave ready razor but none of them are without flaws. I have bought them, but recommend being patient.

Welcome to SRP!
I'd steer clear of ebay.

Hi and welcome. I would steer clear of eBay. You could find a razor in that range but if you aren't sure what to look for its easy to buy a razor with issues. Of all the razors I've brought from ebay (too many ) including those said to be shave ready I have yet to receive that was truly shave ready. You know what to expect from whipped dog and that's something functionality sound and shave ready but flawed. The classifieds are your best bet for a cosmetically good shave ready razor but you will just need to watch and wait. Good luck, read plenty and any questions feel free to ask
