Greetings Johan & welcome aboard. Be patient & take your time on the honing. There is a learning cure to honing & it may take awhile while very few pick it up fairly quick. You also have the chromium oxide & diamond pastes & sprays but the guys in the old days didn't have that kind of stuff & all they had was a barbers hone & a strop so take it with a grain of salt. You might want to send them to someone close to you for now to get them professionally honed & if not then use one from eBay to practice with. You will be okay in time. Your strop is your most important tool for a straight so proper stropping is very important.
great to have you here, there is so much to learn in the Library here plus there are many knowledgable members so any questions just ask.
Good luck my friend.
