Went back the other day and did around 10 laps on the 8K. Not much of a difference.
Went back again this morning, did around 15 heel first laps, and around 20 straight (half verrrry lightly).
After a few passes on the pasted strop, several on the linen, and around 80 on the leather, it was cutting arm hair halfway up.

Decided to try a shave and it was better, again. Got into some more areas, and a bit more on the neck/throat which is the slowest area.

Don't think it's quite there yet, but getting closer.

PS thanks for the tip about the shop on Grand River - that's probably about 5 minutes away.

Got the little Pike strop/hone cleaned up - will see if I can gather all my kit up tomorrow and snap a quick shot - of course, I'll be waiting on a razor. Was asleep at the switch and missed out on a used Daines & Hathaway wet pack, but I'm going to assume the one bidder had a really high max bid. *doh*

Little more - getting closer to 40, 3rd kid due any day now, after going through my apprenticeship (IBEW LU 58 Limited Energy) I am a bit more particular about my tools and doing things the right way (and learning the right way). This leads to:

Honing is 1 thing and taking out frowns and fixing wacky bevels is another. Keeping a nice edge by properly stropping is a challenge in itself in the beginning :<0) Not trying to discourage you , just saying.
So, hey, about that razor tomorrow. Pretty good bargain price...NOS...Adresso...stainless...but with a few little dings in the blade (look more like little waves in the pictures, but still). Do we think I'm smart enough to send it out? Or try to take what I've learned and press on? Is there a question?

Oh yeah! Almost forgot - did a whole shave today (minus the intact stuff) - verrrrrrrrry slowly, now, the neck portion around the adam's apple etc and some of those little hollows and bumps which have been the "nope nope nope" spots got done. Of course, they weren't done exactly in a WTG/XTG/ATG format, it was more in a "oh this seems less lethal, okay, yep I can do this" manner. And then maybe the other way. More lather, rinse, repeat, etc.

Not the bestest shave (the face is getting pretty darn good though) but it was a start!
