    Default New to Str8's!

    Hello from Milwaukee!

Never touched a blade to this face, by my own hand. That's how new I am. Before I do so, I've been reading up/watching vids on as much as I can get my hands on. A year ago, if someone told me I'd be watching a 40 min vid of another man shaving his face, I would've said you're nuts!

Ha! I've now consumed not only said mentioned vids, but tutorials on stopping, honing, two-hand method vs. single, etc, etc. As you guys are well aware, there's a LOT to consume!

Anyway, glad I've found this community, and looking to lean on you guys heavily as I attempt to master this art form!

Thanks for all your advice and input!!

Welcome. When you master the art you are in for a real treat. A straight shave is sooo smooth and lasts sooo long you won't believe it. You can also say good bye to ingrown whiskers and you will also have a nicer complexion.

Welcome. Great choice and decision, on this forum and to shave with a straight .
As Engine46 said, you may want to go with a razor set.
That way you have all you need to get started in your journey.

Thanks Mike. The Ralf Aust is a very nice razor. I do not have one but I would & will one day. They have some very nice straight razors & talk about quality, they've got it!

Please understand mastering your straight shave likely will not happen quickly. It will take patience and practice to get comfortable and your technique will continue to improve over years.

If I were you I would PM Obie and Geezer and take them out for a beer. Tap into their wealth of knowledge. With them as your mentors it will be smooth shaving before you know it.
