Looks like a really nice Sheffield. From what i can see it looks like a Frederick Reynolds. I have a few and they are good shavers. Since this is the first please whatch the videos on shaving with straights on you tube. a world of info there. Others here have given sound advice. These guys are quite knowledgeable and well worth listening to. Good luck.

Update! So I did my second shave today and I have to say it was already improved, I do think I need to make my soap more slick however because it seemed like it wasn't good enough. However, that being said I think I really started to get the angle of the blade right I did two passes WTG on my sideburns and cheeks and finished up with my DE. It wasn't the smoothest shave but I defiantly feel like I'll get the hang of it eventually! I think maybe next time i'll try my mustache area and possibly across the grain on my sideburns and cheeks however I don't know exactly how to approach those angles. Anyway, it's really getting exciting I'm trying as best I can to go slow and steady and learn the basics as best a can first!

I would stick to cheeks, adding in XTG/WTG. Maybe moving towards the neck area if you are comfortable. I'd avoid the mustache/chin area for the beginning stages. But take my advice with a grain of salt, I haven't shaved off my goat since 2010.
