Thanked: 1Hello from south Texas
Hello gents! Been lurking around the forum and finally decided to join. So first off I'm female and after YEARS of dealing with horribly sensitive skin I decided to listen to a friend of mine who insisted that a straight would be easier on my skin. Turns out he was right lol. Bought myself a dovo 5/8 black star and have used it twice so far. Nicked myself 2x the first time but nothing major. If anyone has advice I'm all ears. Finding anything on women using straights has been nearly impossible and the closest barber supply shop is over 2 hours away from my area.

Welcome to the forum.
Glad you are happy with the shaves. Your results will improve as your technique improves.

Welcome from a fellow Texan! I have been trying to get my wife to switch, but she won't do it
You started out with a good razor, with a good strop to go with it every shave will get better!

Thanked: 1@Ernie it takes a bit of "yoga" and way more concentration using a straight vs anything else I've tried that's for sure and as far as stopping I'm taking my sweet time and trying to do it right

As far as shave gear goes in south Texas the internet is your best friend. San Antonio has an Art of Shaving...but they are over priced in my opinion and the selection leaves much to be desired as they are proprietary. Help with honing or refreshing a razor I am not far away and would be happy to help. (Kerrville)

Thanked: 1I purchased my strop and some other gear at Alamo barber supply in SA and having someone relatively close by to help with honing/refreshing would be awesome. I'm nowhere near confident enough to attempt that myself at this point.

Hi and welcome. There used to be a ladies forum so doing some searches should pull up a reasonable amount of information from while it was active.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
