    Talking Hello from Riverside, CA

Thanks for all the resources! I'm a bit overwhelmed :-)

Awhile back I bought a straight razor and strop from The Art of Shaving, and now I'm learning to hone. Spending a lot of time reading and experimenting, and just really thankful that you guys have gone before and are sharing your knowledge here.

Might want to try a pro honed blade, the Art of Shaving doesn't hone them, and without a reference point you may be missing out on very nice shaves,, you really won't know till you do,, but read , read , read , lots of good stuff for beginners Tc

    welcome neighbor.

    Temecula here...

There are few of us on here that are very close to each other out here in SoCal.

Wolfpack34 is very close to us and he can hone one up of you, not mention a the rest of the guys in the classifieds.

Hi and welcome. I would echo TC's comments of starting with a pro honed blade. I know from experience you ate likely nowhere near where you should be and having it pro honed gives you a benchmark to shoot for. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask for

I've got connected with Euclid440 over in Diamond Bar. Going to meet up with him on Tuesday with my gear and get some tutoring :-)

    Thanks for all the support!

Big shout out to Euclid440 for the over four hours of tutoring. I went home with a honed blade that shaved like a dream. I swear my beard was running away from that blade - pop pop pop go the whiskers.

I'm feeling a lot more confident about keeping this thing sharp. Now I just need to drive back over to your place and pick up the strop that I left there - d'oh!

Thanks so much for your time, Euclid!

You had a treat. Wish I could have had that when I started, going to a great razor hone guy right out the gate! I,m jealous. You are on a great ath for success, told you a pro honed blade was worth trying , didn't I ? Tc
