Default Hello from Upstate New York

This website is a wealth of information. I have perused it with a general sense of fascination for days now. I have yet to purchase my first SR, but I have a vintage razor of my grandfather's that I'll be getting restored. Looking forward to learning this fine and manly art.

Hi arfman2882 & welcome aboard. It's cool you have an heirloom & if all it really needs is a pro honing, I would leave the many years of age & patina on it. You will also only want to use it on very special occasions so the inevitable won't happen like things usually do to irreplaceable things like that. Things do happen like accidentally dropping it or bumping it into the faucet. You will want to get you one or two more anyway so that you have an extra for when you send one out to be pro honed, you'll still have one to shave with. You must have a strop also & you can practice using a butterknife so you don't cut a new strop or dull a good edge on one. Be patient & take your time. Great to have you here. There's plenty of great info to learn here.
    Good luck my friend.
