Thanked: 0Greetings
So, I'm a little late to this party, given that I've already posted a couple of times, but I thought I would introduce myself nonetheless.
My name is Scott, I'm a software engineer in Burnsville, MN. I'm just getting into straight razor shaving, mostly because it forces me to slow down my morning routine on the days that I shave with a straight - helps to calm things down, and center myself before the day. Also, I'm one who likes ritual and tradition (one of the reasons I'm a hockey referee).
I originally purchased a Gold Dollar straight razor before I knew what I was doing, and that didn't really work out great for me, so I purchased a Le Grelot Frameback on the classifieds, and it's been working pretty well for me.
I'm doing pretty well right now - I'm able to get a reasonable shave for the time being. I'm really striving to get as close as I can with a cartridge razor (which I'm not currently successful at right now). I'd like to eventually replace my Mach3 completely. I could probably use some mentoring, but I'm not 100% sure how to get started setting something up with a mentor.
Hope to see you all on the forums!

Welcome aboard.
It took me about a month of every day use before I got a shave as close as the cartridge. It took another 2 months before I could consistently do it.
Patience, practice, and time will get you there if you don't find a mentor. Just try to enjoy the ride. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

You can learn more at a Meet in a few hours than you can with months of online/video research.
