    Default Hello From SanDiego

    Hi everyone,

I've been shaving with safety razors for a while now and I am looking to graduate to a straight razor. I hope to learn a lot here and find out what the best way to get started in regards to which razor to buy. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post. I look forward to learning as much as I can here in the near future.

Hi and welcome aboard. Check out the library for all of the basics and as for a razor a 5/8 or 6/8 round point is generally recommended. The most important thing is that the razor is truly shave ready. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask

Thanks Eddy. I really appreciate the advice. Do you have any idea what the best dovo would be to go with? I have been looking at the new options they have but can't decide as they all seem pretty much the same with just different designs.

If you are set on Dovo, then it's all about the bling as to price, the cheap basic will shave as well as the high end stuff, it's all about who puts the edge on. Also if your looking new the quality of Ralph Aust is very good in the same price range. Again who puts the edge on it. To start with I wouldn't spend a lot till you really learn how to shave first, so a basic razor or I would suggest you look in the classifieds here to pick up a good starter razor that's honed ready to shave. I think Tc pretty well summed it up. The more bling the higher cost not better blade. The base model will shave just as well as the most expensive.
