Thanked: 1Hello from newbie in Malaysia
Hi everyone, great to have found this site. Migrating from safety razor to straight.. I have just placed an order for the razor, strop and expecting the package to arrive in 2 weeks time. Feeling excited to pick up a new skill, yet terrified at the idea of a cut throat razor

Welcome aboard mate
The term cut throat is an advertising ploy by safety razor makers LOL
You will be fine
Read up on and watch all the beginner threads from the home page and you should be off to a good start remember take it easy and don't rush the learning curve
I hope your straight is coming from a reputable supplier shave readySaved,
to shave another day.

Thanked: 1Hi mate, thanks for the encouragement. I have a very tight budget, so ordered a Titan vg10hz Sr from Ali Express.. Anyone heard of this brand?

I dont know anything about them but one piece of feedback indicated that it needed to be sharpened.

Thanked: 580Welcome to SRP. Think I read here the Titan is a glorified Gold Dollar. Like Ed said, will probably need a hone.

Hi and welcome. From what I have heard said it may be a razor shaped object. You will need to send it to someone who knows how to properly hone a straight (not a knife sharpening service ) to get it shave ready. A razor from SRD is the only razor I have received truly shave ready no matter how it was advertised(haven't used the classifieds though and these guys all use straights so would expect shave ready). Good luck and any questions feel free to ask
