Thanked: 0French guy in Sydney
Hi there,
I'm using a straight razor for a couple of weeks and I'm enjoying a great JA Henckels, bought in Australia.
I would like to buy some more razors and hone them, so if somebody knows where I could find some good stones in Australia, feel free to share the information !
Cheers !

Welcome aboard! I don't think you'll find a physical store for stones/decent razors but for other items like shaving soaps etc. Mensbiz has a neat shop in the Strand Arcade. Lots of Aussies here so there will be no shortage of suggestions ;-)

We don't have a lot of choice about where to buy stones in Australia, indeed most honers probably buy from overseas.
Locally, you're pretty much limited to Shaptons from Henry Eckert (for both the Pro series and the Glass Stones) or Mensbiz who stock only the Glass Stones. Carbatec also sell the DMT brand of diamond plates and some King waterstones. Some of the local Chef's knife suppliers also sell the Shapton Glass Stones. By Chef's knife suppliers I mean the more boutique and high end places; King of Knives have only a very limited range of hones.
Overseas suppliers like Tools from Japan and Straight Razor Designs have the full range of Shapton, Naniwa, Chosera, Sigma and Suehiro hones.

Welcome to the 'Place'.
For stones in Oz I recommend So Yamashita from japan-tool. He is in Taree.
PM me if you want his email. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
