Greetings from Coticuleland
Hello Gentlemen!
Let me introduce myself : I am a Belgian army officer (Engineer Corps) living in the southern part of the kingdom. I recently celebrated my first anniversary of straight razor shaving (so called 1st Raziversary). I am member of the French forum Coupe Chou Club (CCC) and knows some of your members who are also members of that forum.
I own just around 50 razors, mainly found on flea markets and self restored.
In London next week, I intend to try a barber shop there.
Have a nice day

Welcome to SRP YoWan. We're almost neighbours :-) Impressive number of razors you allready have in your collection. Do you use the Coticules for honing? Enjoy the forum!

Thanked: 3215Welcome and congratulations on a year.
I do love that site the photography of very old razors is amazing, as is the knowledge of your members. Wish we could find razors like that as easily as you guys.
Yes, I am curious also, is the Coticule popular there for razor honing?
I say that because I live a few miles from Disneyland and most folks think we go there once a week, but I can count the times I have gone on one hand and haven’t been in years….

@ Maarten : Ja, ik gebruik coticule in mijn process om scherp maken - Yes I use a coticule in my process of honing.
@ Euclid : In Belgium, it is the most popular honing stone. I found mines in flea markets. I have three (had four but helped a friend) of them : a combo Coticule/BBW, a natural combo with "Rouge de Salm" and another combo with Red of Salm.
It is said on CCC that if you have to posses just one stone, choose the coticule.

Welcome to SRP. Not sure if he is in or near London, but Gary Haywood is in the UK, and is a pro barber with his own shop. He is a long time member here, and a definite coticule and straight razor aficionado. You might message him to see if you could meet up with him. I'm sure it would be an enjoyable experience for you both.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome to the forum! Your compatriots have made the stones a winner for many of my razor restorations.
Years back i found Bart and many others who soon became friends at:
http://www.coticule.be/
The archives there and honing instructions are great. Bart still answers some questions on the "The Clinic" thread.

PS. Ardenes Coticule has the names of folks that can be of great service to users of thee Coticules. Bart Torfs hand picks stones for them for razor usage.Last edited by Geezer; 05-28-2016 at 04:05 PM. Reason: Added info

Indeed, there is only one remaining factory, Ardenne Coticule, and also a museum in Lierneux, a small city near Vielsam.
