Thanked: 3New guy from Northeast Florida
Hey guys!
I've been planning on switching to straight razors for a while now as the disposable shaving cartridges have gone so astronomically expensive. I've been using a shavette for a month or so now and will be getting me a nice used straight soon, probably from the classifieds. I've been enjoying my shaves with the shavette, cuts and all. Got myself a nice (nice to newbie me) badger brush and some soap pucks. The brush has greatly improved my shaving enjoyment. I am really looking forward to getting a straight and learning how to shave with it, strop it and maybe later on learn to hone it. I know its a steep learning curve but an enjoyable one. Thanks for this great site where I could learn a lot from you guys.

Thanked: 634Welcome Alex
Check the library. Loads of info. Ask all the questions you want as members love to share their knowledge. Be patient and stick with it. Before long you will have RAD and buy a razor wether you need it or not. Good luck.

Welcome to SRP Alex. You'll find the straight razor much more pleasing, less apt to nick, than the shavette IMHO. Enjoy the journey, keep us posted on your progress, and don't be shy about asking questions.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hi Alex & welcome aboard. There is about a never ending wealth of information here & if you can't find an answer, just ask. So good to have you here. There is nothing better than a shave using a straight razor when honed & stropped correctly.
Good luck my friend.

Welcome! I am one of two people who have responded that swore I would NEVER start straight razor shaving, preferring safety razors. Dive in...I did 9 years ago this Fall. It is pretty much a lifestyle.
