Hello,
Nice to join SRP,
Been DE shaver for 20 years, no experience as a straight razor user.
Been reading alot, your Library is Awesome.
Bought some Kamisori for right price, on look out for Western Straight.
Want to learn how to hone.
I used to sharpen scissors for awhile(had small buisness about 12 yrs ago).

Welcome to the forum!
First recommendation is a pro-hone and a strop, once you get the feel of how to maintain a razor then dive into the honing.

Thanked: 634Honeing a razor much different from scissors and knives. First learn to shave. Honeing comes later. Like Something said get a pro honed razor. Them you will know what a properly honed razor will feel like.

Thanked: 0You'll like the Japanese razor, but I suggest trying a traditional straight razor professionally honed in a shave ready condition. Get that technique down then you'll want to try different size straight razors. It's an addiction but oh how sweet!
