Thanked: 0Hello from Scotland
Hello everyone, I've been dying to start using a real razor for literally years and my wife bought me one recently. I knew as soon as I saw it, that it was junk, but smiled thinking I'll buy an old English steel to put in the scales, she'll never know! Great to read through some of the threads, great resource for newbies like myself. I have noticed however, that the excuse of, "I'll use a cut throat, and I'll save a fortune on Mach 3s" may be a little disingenuous, being that everybody seems to have several razors. All good for me, I'm an instrument maker, I love sharp things! Thanks for sharing, all the best.

Hi and welcome. You can save money if you adhere to ony getting what you NEED. But where's the fun in that. Think I could have brought disposables for the rest of my life with what I have already spent. I have no regrets. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Welcome to a new addiction!
You're right to not approach this from a money-saving perspective. If you catch RAD or any of the related acquisition disorders, it could cost you plenty. The good news is that this doesn't have to be an expensive endeavor. You can get great vintage razors inexpensively through the classifieds here if you're patient. If you're less patient and less picky, you can go to WhippedDog.com and buy a vintage sight unseen razor and be set for a fully functional razor.
It's best to have at least two razors, though, so that you have a spare when the other needs honing.
