Thanked: 0Howdy from Cowtown, TX (Fort Worth)
Hey,
I signed up three (3) years ago and then grew a beard and simply forgot about this website. :/ I shaved occasionally in the summer with a DE, but I never quite gave up on the idea of a straight razor. I am not much into the wet shaving scene, I just want a way to shave that doesn't entail cartridges. I could use a DE or SE, but I just don't get much out of it. I LOVE the razors. I own a BBS-1 and Wolfman WR1 OC/SB, PH Weber, Fatboy, Super Slim and AS-D1. I used to own most of the Pils-style iKon DE razors as well (sold them). But...what is the point of owning something you don't want to really use?
So, I am back (again) looking at straights. I like the look of straight razors, but I see them more as tools versus eye candy like my safety razors. It looks like it is time to jump ship and switch to straights.

Thanked: 228You must not have looked at many straight razors if you don't think any are "eye candy" like your safety razors. I suggest you look a bit farther.

Welcome! I much prefer a straight over a DE, and bought my first straight right here off the classifieds. I would take a look there for one that strikes your fancy and give it a shot

Thanked: 0I like some of the safety razors as pieces of art (I guess), but they really don't have any soul for me. :/ I remember watching all the DE shaving videos they just didn't get me excited like straight razors do. The idea of owning just one razor (ha ha ha) for life and the notion of never having to buy blades again really makes me smile.

I left in 1980 but have been back many times, my sister still lives there. I grew up in the TCU area.

Thanked: 0Awesome. Have you checked out any of the local breweries in Fort Worth?
I am currently selling off 90% my safety razors and looking at a straight or two.
