Welcome to the forum. There's a ton of great people with a wealth of knowledge here that are more than willing to help.
At this point I think a little more information about your shaving experience would be helpful.
Have you attempted to shave with a Straight Razor yet? Have you watched any video's?
Do you own a razor, a strop, a brush and soap?
I'm from Massachusetts too and would be more than willing to help any way that I can including meeting with you.

Welcome neighbor! There has been some talk of having a meet up in the area, but nothing definitive. I think one member was talking to Utopian, who I think it traveling to the area next year some time, with the hopes that he could mentor a bunch of us.

i have done a bit of restoration as well. (brushes and blades)
i am currently working on a w&b ("the washington razor")project,
blade is done but wasnt satisfied with scales.(ca finish over purpleheart)
