Default hello - and I new

    Hi all.
I was born, grew up and live in an edge of Europe, in Iasi, RO.
Over time I was passionate about many things such as pottery, plant growth - especially bonsai, citrus, but because there are not suitable for an apartment with a small balcony, I calmed down and about one year (on the occasion of discounts) I bought a classic Safety Razor - Muhle R89, but it was not long until I took a razor and then two more. Of course some soaps, three having brushes... another passion. There I struggle with various skins and stones in hopes that I get out of investments too high.
I like to craft so I fight many with a blade reconditioning (if I found), lapping a variety of stone and test them; many say we give up, but I will not give up I will not allow a few good/right stones (I have a few Chinese synthetic stones).
I look with admiration at the various products (blades, stones) and aspire Cause I got a few someday.

I do not know how right I wrote, my English is poor and I help the google translator.
I hope I have not written anything stupid and be somewhat understood what I meant.

This is the first account in another language than the native, I had no courage until now, but if you still haunt here I said it's more correct to make my account.

Again greetings and I hope you will let me feast on your knowledge.

    Hello and welcome.

I can't say I understood everything, but lots of it makes sense to me.

Feast away on the knowledge, there is lots here. Look in the library you will find information on all things there.

Good luck and enjoy your new passion.

my main queries is whether there is life without coticule, thuringian or jnat stone... at least initially.
Now I struggle with various stones collected and plan to try some combinations abrasive + binder.

Must be, I use only synthetic Naniwa hones and seem to manage a decent shave with those edges. You can also use lapping film to hone with. There is usually more than one way to a shave ready edge not just one way.

Welcome to SRP and great first post in a new language.

And if you're asking, yes a 15k is good as a finish/polishing stone

    Hello neighbor, and welcome!

Just a quick note.. the Welch stone is not a "15k" stone. It has no "K", it's a natural stone and you will need to try the one you potentially buy, and judge it on its own. Such is the game, when it comes to naturals.

What I can say is, it's a fine stone, not too hard and not too soft. It slurries nicely and does not auto-slurry. It is best used after at least an 8K synthetic, or a mid-range natural. It can certainly provide a smooth shaving edge, at least the one I had could! You can finish on it with fine oil to push it to the max. It isn't porous, so it won't absorb oil. If you don't like the idea of honing on oil, you might like to try lather, or glycerin.

As with all natural rock, each one is different. It's not too expensive, I'd say go get one and have fun with it. Do a search here, there is a number of threads talking about it.
As the time passes, so we learn.
