New from Maryland
I am new to wet shaving. Started using a shavette about a week ago. Interested in going to a straight razor in the near future, and had I known, what I have learned in the past few days I would have just jumped to straight from the beginning. I am steadily looking for information and trying to learn. Eventually I'd like to be able to hone and restore to lead to collecting. I've always been interested in vintage stuff. I have quite the collection of vintage fishing tackle, and wouldn't mind collecting vintage razors. I was lead to this site while researching honing and that lead me to join.
Thanks for having me.

Welcome! Although I'm in NC now I was born and raised in MD and lived there until 15 years ago when I semi-retired. Where in MD are you? The best way to start is with a mentor who may live near you. If you add your city to your profile you may get a message from someone nearby. Watch the Classifieds on SRP here for good starter razors at good prices.
Best wishes for a fun 2017!Just call me Harold

I am in Southern Maryland. I plan on looking through the classifieds, I'd potentially like to get my first straight shave ready from someone reputable rather than a "shave ready" from eBay or anything like that. From what I have read most of those aren't exactly shave ready. Eventually I'd like to hone my own and possibly restore, but for right now I'm taking it one step at a time.

Welcome to SRP. Please ask many questions lots of helpful folks to help you in about any way they can. I don't think you would be disappointed in getting a straight over your shavette. There is little differences bit nothing that can not be overcome. Enjoy and check the library and wiki out lots of great information in there.
