Welcome and hello. This is a great place to find help and great information. Face to face help would be a big help if you can get it. Not that you can't learn alone but why add frustration when learning? Good luck and enjoy!

Nice razors. Welcome to the madness. Touchups are the place to begin your honing experience. I don't know if I would do it with those beauties though.

Thanked: 3Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been shaving just my neck so far because I have a winter beard going but so far so good. I notice I get a better shave on my left side with my left hand then I do on my right side with my dominant hand. I haven't nicked myself yet, just a bit of razor burn on the right side.
I have a few thoughts as to why that might be. Could be that I'm holding the razor much looser in my left hand and have a firmer grip using too much pressure on it when using my dominant hand. Or I may have messed up the edge of the razor while stropping. I have a jewelers loupe on the way so I will be able to get a better look at the edge. I'm sure I just have a long way to go on my technique. But right now I'm really happy with comfort and closeness of the shave I'm getting.Last edited by Nocturnx; 01-13-2017 at 07:36 PM.

Welcome! i was at the meetup too but didn't really meet too many people (too busy honing with Lynn). Maybe next time i'll spend more time talking. If you can get together with Outback that would be a huge help. Sounds like it might be a pressure issue on the right side. good luck and nice razors!

Razor burn is a pain at first, literally. As said before by many shave the lather, light touch and you can make multiple passes with no ill effect. It takes time as with any skill. You will get there for sure

Being unused to using the left hand people are more cautious and tend to use lighter pressure
