First welcome to SRP there's a lot of great folks here, as you can see by the post above mine.
There's great info on every aspect of shaving as well.
BeJay and Grazor made excellent points.
Also I used to get razor burn on my neck only as well.
I've found any soapmwithbStearic Acid in it will still irritate my neck. So be mindful of that as it could be a reason for your razor burn
Enjoy and have funLook sharp and smell nice for the ladies.~~~Benz

Thanked: 1184Witch Hazel for after shave. Cologne for good stink :<0) Watch the pressure, pull the skin and use the straight. If you can strop you really got it made. Just take your time and pay attention. You can do this !

Hi and welcome. Neck was and still is the only area I get irritation. I will add a link to a whisker map. It can make a huge difference. Don't chase a close shave it will come with time and keep the pressure light. Try starting with nothing but rinsing after shaving and see how it goes. Change 1 variable at a time to see if it helps or not. Sometimes what you think helps does nothing or even harms. Good luck with your shaves.

Grab an alum block. See if rubbing your face with it after the shave helps any. It helps me.

Thanked: 1First of all I want to say Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this and reply. Cudarunner aka Roy kindly sent me a DE razor, and I got it in the mail today. I must say, that I was presently surprised by the way the shave turned out.
These were my steps:
Showered, used bar soap on a rag to wash my face, when I got out of the shower I took a warm rag and held it on my face for 30 seconds. then started the lathering process. I made sure I had it just right. I used a Personna blade that gave me a clean shave. Because I didn't want to push my luck I only did one pass.
So for the moment everyone has been waiting for......
There was very minimum irritation on my neck, and it was not in the area that I normally have trouble with. I think after a few shaves I'll be razorburn free completely. I need to just figure out how exactly my neck is mapped out. It seems to grow in all sorts of directions.
Again, I want to give a special thanks to cudarunner for his generosity. For some reason I am just now seeing about half of these comments. They didn't all make it to my email.
I am glad I found SRP! It is changing my life. (My wife says I am obsessed)... I am very appreciative of all ya'lls comments. Hopefully with in a month or so I will be able to use my SR. Can't wait to see where all this leads to!
Thanks again.
Hopefully this will be a use to another beginner as well

Thanked: 1Oh and after the shave I used cooled water and that is it. No burning at all. I think I am going to continue using nothing after shaving for a bit, and see how it goes.

Good for you a De is a huge step away from cartridges and a way better shave imo. There is a small learning curve but not that bad and again light on the pressure. Best of luck in the future and Roy is a heck of a nice gent for certain.
