Hello from Southern Maryland
Hello All
I am new to the world of straight razors. I have been using a DE for the past 3 to 4 years and decided just last month to give straights a try. I started out by getting my first straight from Vintage Blades LLC. I got a DOVO Solingen 504B 'Classic'. Before that ever came in the mail I had also bought a Bismarck Registered. I have since purchased a Boker Tree 106 and a J. S. Holler / Adolph Blaich that has Gentleman's Razor on the blade. Then just today I picked up a BresDuck Dubl Duck Satinedge that does not have the original scales. All of this since the 29 of January. I think I may have a problem.
I am planning/hoping to be able to hone my razors myself in a year followed by being able to recondition them shortly there after.

Judging by your current pace, I am predicting that you will want to learn how to hone them by summer if not sooner. I was just as eager, but I did have the honor of learning from a highly-regarded mentor and restorer who lives within driving distance. You should keep an out for a local meet-up and/or check to see if someone near you might teach you the basics of honing when you are ready to learn that skill.
I like your variety of blades, too. Those will give you a fair idea of what you like for steel origin, grind, size, etc. Solingen steel rocks! Have fun.--Mark

Hello and welcome to SRP!
Looks like you got a great start with some fine razors.
I would normally advise you to watch out for the rabbit hole but you've already taken the plunge.
Good luck and enjoy the forum!
