90% of my collection was bought on the usual auction site. I had a small collection given by an old chap I work for, they were his fathers.

I had a suspicion that even being close to a source of production might not be as helpful in collecting as one would think. At least there is that auction site that makes collecting on a global scale possible increasing the chances of finding sought after items.

I like the Sheffield steel as well. And it seems being there would be pretty cool, since you are so near the source

If you haven't done so read everything in the SRP library.
I still use it now and then as its such a great source of information.
