Thanked: 4First time hello from a novice
Hello all, my name is Mark and I currently live in Scotland UK.
I first purchased a Dovo shavette as I wanted the feed of shaving with an open razor but didn't want to fork out the cash in case I didn't like it, after using my shavette for a while I decided to take the plunge and I purchased a Dovo Ebenholz which I must say feels great to shave with, the extra length and weight felt a little weird at first but now after a couple of shaves it's beginning to feel very natural.
I have been doing a lot of reading and research into stropping; boy I had no idea the work needed to keep your razor in tip top condition but I have to say I do enjoy it, practicing stropping very slowly and technique perfection, I'll get there one day.
I'm really glad I've bitten the bullet and got myself a straight and joined this great community I've learnt so much from as a guest viewing other people's posts, it was definitely time to sign up and introduce myself.
I hope to speak to many of you along my straight razor journey and gain knowledge from all of your experiences.

Welcome. You can practice stropping with a butter knife. Easier on your razor and less likely to cut up your strop as quickly. You will cut it. We all have. Good luck and ask anything as everyone here is happy to lend a word.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Awesome. Welcome!
Hopefully, you weren't planning on saving money by wet shaving. Never seems to work out that way. haha

Welcome to SRP, Mark. What a coincidence...my name is also Mark, and my second Dovo purchased was a 5/8 Ebenholz. Even across the pond from one another, we are somehow sharing the same vibe. You will certainly come to love this sport if you are anything like me. Maintaining a straight is just added means to enjoy the hobby as far as I'm concerned. Happy shaving and feel free to ask any questions that may come to mind. Cheers!

Welcome to SRP. Just a note to keep in mind when your razor needs a touch-up or honing. Not an area you should even consider for at least a year. Good stropping will keep your razor sharp for a very long time. Don't recall any shaver that hones in your area so let me suggest celticcrusader in Wales as a par excellent honer when you should need one.
