Thanked: 1G'day Everyone
Hey everyone,
I am Mark, living in Melbourne, Australia.
I thought I would start trying to shave with a straight razor/cutthroat due to suffering with severe razor burn. I went out to shavershop and got myself a shavette. Due to financial difficulties I was not able to go directly to a strait razor. This change to a shavette helped immensely, I love the shave that it gives, I love the theatre/event it makes shaving as opposed to just going through the motions.
I am now looking into purchasing a straight razor and strop and finding out everything I can in regards to what I need straight away.
I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Cheers
Mark

Welcome friend. You can get along with a shavette? You will do great with a real straight! I never did get along with the shavette. Be sure to read the library info for beginners. Glad to have you here. Ask questions, share pics and you will fit right in.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 634Welcome. When you are ready to buy a straight make sure you get it from a reputable dealer that sells truly shave ready razors. If not get it professionally honed before you do your first shave.

Welcome to SRP, Mark! If you already like shaving with a shavette, you will no doubt be impressed once you change over to a true straight razor. There's a fairly good sized contingent of Aussies on the forum, so you may want to reach out for some one one one mentoring to help flatten the learning curve. Good luck and have fun!
