EY UP from yorkshire
Hey guys, been lurking about on this site for about a year now so decided id finally join.
My story so far:
it has been a steep learning curve for me. I was bought a DOVO shavette (Shudders from the purists) for Christmas about 2 years ago with a few of the bits and pieces to start shaving.
After I stopped carving up my face every time I shaved I decided to dig out my grandfathers old razors and try with these. I used one of these without realising it needed to be sharpened lol. It was an interesting shave to say the least, and that's what brought me to this forum.
Since then I have been bought a BBW with a slurry stone and a linen/leather strop, the information on here has been invaluable in learning how to use these pieces of kit as well as all the YouTube videos some of your more proficient posters have put out there.
I'm still very much learning but loving all aspects of the shave and prep work.

As there seems to be a few people who are near me, can you recommend any places to buy Honing stones etc from. Are there any decent shops or is it all web based sales now?

Buying stones is mostly web based that's where the cost savings and greater choice are to be found.
