    Default Saint Louis Noob

Hey there from St. Louis. Just got into straight razor shaving cause I thought it would be fun. Bought an old Boker King Cutter off ebay and was hoping to get it honed. If someone could point me in the right direction for a honing service (mail-in or local), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You are in luck. Our founder Lynn Abrams is right in your backyard in Chesterfield, Mo.
He is founder of SRP, co owner of Straight Razor Designs, Honemeister extraordinaire and one heck of a great guy.
You could mail the razor, or PM him and maybe make arrangements to drop it off and get some very valuable one on one time with one of the best guys in the business.
Enjoy your time here on the forum and have fun.

    Aloha!

Welcome. This is an AWESOME forum bar none. I lurked here for years and finally joined myself not that long ago. I personally didn't think I'd post all that much but on the contrary, it's almost impossible for me NOT to post.

I've been wet shaving for decades and using a straight razor since I inherited my Grandfather's Solingen many many years ago. Yet to this day I have never dove into honing. It's on the radar, but I've got too much on my plate yet to get into it. I've got a honemaster near me and that's good enough for now. But eventually, I'll be honing up a storm like many other gents here. The great thing about the wonderful art of wet shaving is, there are SO many facets that you can get into. Strops, razors, soaps, aftershaves, honing, brushes, and on it goes.

    Enjoy!

I'm sure my bank account won't thank me for diving into straight razor shaving. But i'd rather spend my money on something I enjoy than giving my money to Procter and Gamble But yeah I bought a a cheap 1k, 4k, 8k, and a chinese 12k and a gold dollar straight razor to practice on. I also got some tai winds dueling pistol and marc jacobs for men aftershave. So I'm not quite a noob but I know when to call my limits on straight razor honing. Don't want to mess up this Boker!

Welcome to the forum! Let us know how the first shave goes once you get your Boker back. Should be a blast no doubt.

Yeah for sure. I even polished it up and now it's shining like a mirror! Sent Lynn a PM; just waiting for a reply. I love the Boker brand. I have a pocket knife made by Boker and I always keep it on hand.
