Welcome to SRP! Have fun learning razor restoration. With regards to hones, I recommend the Naniwa Speciality stones. Very easy to learn synthetics capable of producing wonderful edges. You could go 3/8/12.

It's best if you can get some one on one honing instruction with a mentor in your area. Something to consider as technique is such a huge factor in order to get a properly honed blade. Have fun!

    Aloha!

Welcome! I've dabbled in restoration for decades, and recently am taking it a bit more seriously. I found two blades in my travels that are in need of scales, and they also need a bit of restoration. I have them slated for winter restoration fun. I finally got into honing a few months ago and I am shocked it took me so long to try my hand (literally) at putting blade to stone. It's been great fun for me and I'm sure it will be for you too.

    Enjoy the journey indeed.
