Thanked: 2Hello from Maryland
Hi! My name is Steve, and I'm addicted to wet shaving! [emoji2]
I converted to wet shaving with DE Gillettes a few months ago and love the quality of the shave. I've only shaved with DE so far but I recently picked up a few project straight razors while out hunting for Gillettes. I did have a straight I acquired through a trade that was honed by a fellow board member but a close friend was dying to try out straight razors and he was deserving so I PIF to him.
Due to his enthusiasm as well as an ongoing curiousity I have picked up a few projects which I hope to learn to work on as well as maybe locate a few talented individuals who could help out with the proscess.
Oh I've also started to restore brushes as a hobby and I'm having a lot of fun so far!
Looking forward to learning and picking up some new knowledge and skills.
Steve

Welcome and enjoy the ride. I'd recommend starting your restoring with the one that needs to less work. You need to read the library and learn before taking a grinder or sand paper to those razors. Its a lot of fun and this is the place to be to learn.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 2The more I read the more Im lost in ways!
I want to get some stones but money is tight. I was given a 1k natural water stone by a close friend. I keep hearing about 4k/8k combos which are 80 bucks. Any other options? And then how high do I go? I've heard 12k 15k arky black? I want to do I right but I only have so much disposable income.
I should also note a close friend will likely go in on stones with me but we are both single income dads that want to learn a new skill and be self sufficient maintaining our razors.
