Thread: New member in Tennessee. Looking for information on John primble hones

Hey, my name is stacy. I'm possibly one of the few females around here. I have a john primble hone. It says John primble razor hone , goods of honour trade mark. I would like to find out if I can find when it was made n what grit it is, and maybe what it's worth. It's in good shape but has some places I think may be bad but I could be wrong. Any help would be appericiated. Oh. I am 38 yrs old. I'm in the eastern Tennessee area. I have some of my papaw old cups and brushes and even the soap. I have a few straight razors also. I've always been interested in this stuff. Thanks for reading. And thanks in advance for any help.

We don't assess anything for monetary value here. It's against the rules.
Sounds like you have a fine collection of shaving heirlooms.

Definitely post a picture of the barber hone and someone will tell you if it is damaged or not.
If it is damaged, there are links on this site on how to repair them.
I seem to remember those hones being equivalent to a 10k hone, but the links above probably have the equivalent grit listed in them.

I have found out this hone will but a razor edge on a sharpened pocketknife. I will try to post pics of stuff as soon as I can. And sorry for asking about the value. I didn't read that part in the rules. Thanks a bunch.
