Thanked: 31Hello and a big thank you from Las Vegas
This is my first posting here, although I've been reading the posts and resources avidly.
I'm a 40-year plus traditional wet shaver, started with grandfather's Gillette, brush and Old Spice mug. I've been active on other shaving forums, mostly discussing DE and SE razors, soaps, brushes, etc.
Although I think of myself as a fairly accomplished wet shaver, the straight razor has always eluded me. I took a few of half-hearted attempts over the years without much success, through my own lack of determination.
I started reading this forum, committed to the process, and a little over a month ago started putting steel to face.
I got some 'beginner's' razors, a Ralph Aust from Lynn, a Grifetto, etc. and started out extremely slowly. I shaved with a straight razor for a little over a month straight, touching up with a DE. I waited until I had a month of shaves under my belt before this first posting here.
Yesterday, I had my first complete straight razor shave, 3 passes. Although not a perfect shave, it was a wonderful shave and a glimpse of what a straight razor shave has in store as I improve.
I want to thank you all in this forum for the great resources, and the incredible support.
Special thanks goes out to two members in particular:
To Obie for generously-and patiently-answering the usual newbie questions and for being so kind.
And I had the privilege of meeting Maximillian and getting one of his functional works of art a few days ago. As a matter of fact, it was with his razor I was able to complete-for the first time-an entire 3-pass shave. It was almost effortless. I was impressed not only by his artistry and attention to detail, but his generosity in sharing his advice and thoughts about straight razors and shaving. I learned so much in my conversation with Max, and am very grateful to him.
Thanks for listening, and here's a picture of my first complete straight razor shave:

Hello and welcome to SRP.
Wow! You are off to an awesome start. One of Max's fine razors and a Saponifico Varesino brush...doesn't get much better than that.
You will find that the forum is full of terrific people that are more than willing to help in any way that they can.
Congratulations and enjoy the shaving and your time here on the forum.

Once you get into a routine, you'll wonder why you ever shaved any other way. Welcome to our world. That is a beautiful blade; take good care of it and it will take good care of you.
