Thanked: 2New member from the Pacific Northwest
Greetings all,
I started up straight razor shaving about 3 months ago, after having a beard for 7 years after retirement. Got tired of the beard, and since I had nothing to shave with, I figured I would go big, or go home, and bought a straight. Glad I did, as after running through the learning process, I now get fantastic shaves, and keep my razor in tune with a single coticule, as I like the shave it can produce, and the simplicity of it all.
Anywho, I'm also a member over at B&B, and have been a lurker over here, and thought I'd join you guys and participate in the fun.

Welcome to SRP! Any info you need concerning shaving with a straight razor is available here, all you need do is ask, there is always someone to help.
The Coticule is a very good choice to maintain a razor, sort of a universal stone you can do a lot with depending on amount of slurry you use. It takes a little time to learn your particular stone but well worth the effort and time. They leave a particularly smooth edge especially on Sheffield razors.

Welcome Dave. Glad to have ya in the group.
You will find a lot more activity when it comes to straights here compared to B&B. Very little else spoken of here.
A lot of us came from over there and have never went back! It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 315Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you got a good system. What type of razor and Strop are you using?
That reminds me I need to touch up the edges on my two main blades.

Welcome to SRP. Where in the great Pacific Northwest are you? Other than the yearly meets if there are a number of members in close proximity to each other a series of mini keets can be developed and have good talk over coffee/beer or what have you.
