This is a good opertunity for me as well as him. Ive tried to convert my friends but they all look at me like im crazy. Now i got someone wanting to learn. This could be a lot of fun. If nothing else he will have a shave ready razor to use and learn with.

    Welcome!
There's a lot of really good guys here, very balanced group.
Jump right in I'm sure you will like it.

Can't add much.. but I like what Bob said about respecting the blade, not becoming complacent. I made that mistake. It's an easy one.
Also, I don't drink coffee before because it makes my hands unsteady. And I don't shave when I'm angry. And I lock the door so that my attention is not drawn away for even an instant (I've got kids).
Now I'm sure that doesn't apply to everyone, and perhaps I'm over cautious, just a few little things I do.

    Good luck and enjoy!

    Welcome aboard.!
You'll be in adequate hands, with Jerry. He's come a long way since joining, just don't let him finish your razor on the PHIG ( Peoples hone of indeterminate grit ). It leaves a edge that's too sharp.

welcome to the group, and as long as you do not make a slicing motion you'll be fine

Well as a former chef, I can't make any promises. Although knife control comes with the territory so that's a good thing!

I too am like Mike T. In the fact i lock the door. I dont even want the wife walking in. The last thing i need is for her to bump me reaching for something.

No Mike, no PHIG on this one. Going to go with my stardard. I want him to shave skin, not remove it. Ha. That stone is still kicking my backside. Been thinking about finishing on the arkie after the phig. Who know what might come of it. But thats another story.

For the OP: We have a lot of good guys here and a lot of jokers too. And the "Palace" wouldnt be complete if we didnt have a few idiots, so its just a matter of time. Learn from your new friends, READ THE LIBRARY! Its very helpful. Hope to meet you in person in a few days. You never know. I might be like TC and scare you away. Ha.
