Thanked: 6Bryan here
New to the forum, old hand to the fine art of shaving and I love to put vintage stuff back into service. Usually great steel they used way back when. I'm from North Carolina in the Charlotte area. I'm not usually one to comment a lot, but I do read quite a bit. Anything else just ask.

Welcome to the forum, Bryan! There's always room for another "old hand" to provide some good perspective, especially for those new to the fine sport of wet shaving.
Cheers!

Thanked: 6Thanks for the warm welcome. It's funny. I got into this stuff because my wife hates when I grow a beard. I figured that if I was going to go baby faced, there was no way I'd do it with some multi blade, poor excuse for a paint scraper. I started with an old Gilette fatboy that I still have and use once in a while, but always knew I'd get into straight razors eventually. I've had many over the 10 years or so I've been tinkering, but my daily driver is an old Wosty from 1881 that my great grandfather bought new. He used it till he died and my grandfather did too. That old quarter hollow was honed almost to a wedge by then, so I reground it, put the hollow back into it and squared the toe. Been tinkering with them ever since.

Thanked: 6Dunno how many times I've heard that one lol. I always tell everyone that if you wanna save money, grow a beard and leave it tangled. A good shave or a well manicured beard isn't a poor man's game. Not if you're planning to do it right.

I saved money once...I think. Welcome, I do a lot of reading here too. You won't find a more knowledgeable group of people on this sport anywhere. You're in good hands.

Welcome to the forum, Bryan!
I must feel awesome to not only have your great grandfather's razor but actually use it and keep it in service! This is so much more than just shaving
