    Default Hello from Ontario, canada

Hello, I have been wet shaving all my life, past year got into DE shaving and now interested in trying Straight's. Whole new world, and excited to buy my first straight and go from there. Any tips are greatly appreciated, and I am sure I will learn a lot on this forum,
so I thank you in advance,
    Jim

Welcome. You have quite a few Ontarians in this group who would be happy to help.

Read the info in the Library and ask questions. You will be surprised how quickly any question you post will receive answers. The folks here are extremely generous with advice and sharing of expertise.

This is a fun hobby. Enjoy.

I jumped back and forth between learning my straight, and using my DE for a long time. Never really getting good at the straight. One day, I ultimately said that come hell or high water, I’d use my straight for every shave for one year or grow a beard.

I jump back and forth now, but i’d Like to think I’ve mastered the straight. It was well worth it. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. It might be a good idea to see if you have a member near you to act as a mentor. Nothing like some in person time when things need explaining.

    Hello and welcome to SRP.

The Buy/Sell/Trade section is where you might find something from a reputable person that is indeed shave ready. If you see something that catches your eye, ask questions.

Good luck and enjoy the forum.

Welcome to SRP. As was said, check out the b/s/t thread for a real sha e ready razor. They can be had for low prices (30 bucks) if you wait and watch. If you buy new, even if they say its shave ready it most likely isnt. So before you go spending money ask us. We can point you in the right direction. And 2 razors are always best. You will need to send one off for honing and have one to keep shaving with.

Its a lot of fun and depending on how far down the rabbit hole you go it can cost a lot. But it dont have too.

Good luck and hope to hear your questions. Read our library on beginners. It will help you to get started.

Nothing to be said that hasn't already been said, so welcome to SRP! Sure hope you find the straight razor shave journey as worthwhile as we do.

B/S/T is a great place to purchase shave-ready razors. Vintage blades typically shave circles around modern production razors, especially compared to the entry-level crap that seems abundant these days.

Feel free to ask questions and participate. No need to lurk here given the welcoming membership's appreciation of new users looking to master this sport. You don't get penalized here for asking questions regardless of how many times they've been covered in the past.

    Cheers!
