After buying every DE available, and multiples of some.... And amassing a massive, super expensive collection of double edged, I decided to try a straight....
Now I'm in trouble. I have 8 straights either being made or being mailed as we speak... Yay. Another way to spend money rather than paying down the mortgage
Looking forward to learning how to hone properly, and scouting for awesome new razors to buy!

Being you have been shaving with DE's you will have a little understanding on how to shave. But its still recommended reading the info in our library on beginners. Plus a couple minutes to read the rules. If your going all out on buying razors, be sure to look up a few of the masters here that sell. Hey Luke. There are a lot of Canadians on the forum. I’m curious what part of Canada you are from. There are tons of rabbit holes with straight razors. Go slow, or as slow as you can. It’s best to learn to shave with properly honed razors before getting into honing.

There is a great deal of info and expertise on this forum whether you want to learn about the history of blades, how to choose good ones, how to maintain them or how to restore them.

Ask questions and you will get well considered answers. It’s unlikely anything you experience hasn’t been dealt with already by one of the members.

I’m sure you know that it’ll take some grit to learn how to shave with a straight. Give up on the notion of baby butt smooth for a bit, and learn to just get two passes mastered for now. And do NOT switch back and forth between your straights and DE’s, you’ll never learn that way.

You are going to love it!

About time you took off the training wheels and discovered the bigger rabbit hole. Stay patient and consider using both hands to shave (though not necessarily right away).

Oh, and I eventually discovered that nicks were scant when I had the blade in motion prior to landing on my skin. Have fun learning...and hoarding!
