Hi from Chicago.
I'm a new straight razor user, about 4 months, starting after watching some Youtube videos. One major poster caught my attention and also was so helpful in showing the proper way to shave. It is getting much easier and enjoyable of having to constantly concentrate. I never realized how many have gone back to the old ways of shaving.

Welcome indeed. The gentlemen here are FIRST RATE as you will find. And Straight Razor Shaving is a wonderful endeavor. To some, it's a passion. To others, it's just a great way to get a smooth shave. To my grandfather, it was simply something that HAD to be done every other morning. To me, it's something I look forward to. Funny how a paradigm shift will change the nature of a mundane routine into a pleasurable pastime.
