New to traditional shaving. Own a Red Imp, and a forged razor. My go to is a Merkur safety razor, usually is a faster process.

Welcome to the forum.
With practice, a year from now you will be able to shave with a straight in 10 minutes; and then you will realize it's about the experience not the time it takes.

Welcome! I’d bet there are a lot of SRP members near you. I’d suggest adding Your location to your public profile.

Welcome to SRP. Glad to have ya in the group.
Bluesman or I might be right around the corner from ya so put that location in.
We have get-togethers a few times a year. A great way to learn. Read the beginners section in our library and remember this takes time. Much more than it took to learn your DE. A DE is a great way to start as it helps you in knowing how to make a nice lather so your one step already in the right direction. Enjoy the Forum as we have lots of great folks willing to answer your questions. BTW, the search function will help you find lots of info. Join in on some of the sub-forums as it's not just shaving here. We are a big happy family! It's just Sharpening, right?

Welcome! Take your time, the learning curve is much different from a de. If you have your lather down pat it’ll make all the difference with a straight. You’re in good company in CO.

I enjoy the time I use to shave. Sure i could cut it down to 10 minutes but i like to take my time and spend closer to 25 minutes to shave. This encludes stroping before and after and cleanup as i do manage to get water everywhere.
So if your in a hurry as i was when i first started with a straight remember its going to take up some time in the beginning, but the biggest difference is before you were doing a chore. Now its an enjoyment. It's just Sharpening, right?
