Hi and welcome to the Forum. A little one on one with "Outback" is going to be an eyeopener. I had been shaving on my own for about a year and was fortunate enough to have a member give me some personal attention. That was a life changer, hang on help is on the way. It wouldn't hurt to keep reading, our library is a good source of info. if nothing else you'll pick up on our jargon.

Hi and welcome aboard. Unfortunately to many claim to be supplying shave ready blades. 1 I have said all the right things and came with chips in the edge. Sure Out back will have you shaving though.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Razor arrived, and it didn't take long to figure out what the problem is/was.
This isn't the first time of come across this, with Dovo. But the stabilizer is not properly ground out, leaving a higher point the spine, and a poorly shaped heel, that caused heel hooks, and a edge that ends behind the stabilizer. Like a over honed razor, where the hone is cutting into the stabilizer.
I reshaped the heel a bit, so to give the edge some relief, and taped with two layers. First one covered to the stabilizer and brought the spine level to the shoulder, the next covered to the tang.
Honed up easy peezy, after that, and test shave was phenomenal.
Don't know what it is with Dovo's QC, but this isn't the first one I've come across like this. My own 6/8 Best quality, had a stabilizer that wasn't ever ground at all, just totally forgotten.
So...is Dovo being made by the same folks as Gold Dollars. Just a heads up, folks. Watch the grind, on them Dovos.Mike

Strong evidence that DOVO is not making their entry-level models anymore themselves. The ""Best Quality"" (extra set of quotes to express total lack of best quality) I honed last spring didn't even look like it was made by DOVO to me. Horrible steel, edge geometry...the whole 9 yards was puke!
DOVO is dead to me now.--Mark

I haven't had any complaints on the shaveabilty, once the issues have been taken cared of. But it ticks me off to see this kind of QC for the price we pay.
Guess that's why I sent a nice vintage razor, back with his Dovo. He'd already paid his dues, with the Dovo.
Maybe Robert will be more inclined to buy his next one from the BST.Mike

Thanked: 1And might I say that vintage was the best shave I've gotten from a Straight yet... and the dovo followed up nicely on the second day shave but there was no comparison because I really didnt even need a shave the next morning. If it wasnt my employers standard to be clean shaven everyday I would have waited a day before trying out the dovo. A big thanks to Outback. I was about to give up on the straight razor world but now I'm hooked.
