In the Wiki somewhere is a list of quality razors, But the most important thing is to look at the list of BAD razors. So that you know to stay away from them. Welcome to SRP and join in on the fun. BST will get you a razor for so much less money than a new one, you will be able to buy a few compared to a new one. As Bob said in his nice way and in my own words, What you know about sharpening is not going to help you much. If anything, It can hinder you when learning to hone. So read about honing here. There are so many people on youtube that show honing that dont know what they are doing, So be careful there.
Learn the shave strop and make lather. Those are the first and only thing you should be worried about for a few months. Keep us informed on how it going and we will help point you in the right direction to get better shaves. Its a long slow trip, but worth it in the end! It's just Sharpening, right?

Tracey
Definitely try to come to a meet up
You will learn more in a few hours than you can in a year
Maybe even pick up a nice razor or brush
Do you currently have a razor?

Thanked: 0Speedster pointed me at two that are now in the mail. I have a Thier-Issard 6/8 Bison And a Castagnon straight, 6/8" that was for sale in the B/S/T forum. I've gor an Omega 48 Boar brush that I have been using with my cartridges but I'll likely pick up a Badger brush sooner than later. I'll also have to get a strop.
