Thanked: 2Hello
Just joining, I've been honing razors for a few years, and knives for a long time. Figure I should probably create an account instead of lurking. Thank you.

Thanked: 634Welcome to the forum.
You say you have been honing razors for a while. Do you shave with one? If not how do you know you are getting a great edge? Have you ever shaved with a professionally honed razor?
My questions are not meant to insult. We have many new members who haven't mastered the shave and start honing. They have never experienced a professionally honed razor. They have no way of knowing if they are getting a good edge.

Thanked: 2Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. Sorry, I know I’ve stated I’ve honed, but I also have been shaving with straights for years. 3-4 years to be specific.
I’ve only actually shaved with one edge but my own. A razor from snail forge and on par with my best. If only all my razors were drool worthy like his.
I’ve learned a lot from lurking, on Facebook, etc. learned most from my mistakes. I still continue to get better month after month, but no longer leaps and bounds like my first year. But now small incremental learnings and small improvements.
There’s always more to learn. Thanks.
