Thread: Hello All From Middle Earth

Hello all from New Zealand.
I've had a lifelong interest in all sharp blades, being descended from a very long line of Sheffield cutlers.
Having said that, I'm quite new to shaving with a straight razor - and hoping to get better. So, I look forward to being part of the Forum.

Thanks for the reassurance, SHD (that my Sheffield great grandfather made a smart choice in choosing to relocate his genes from the grime in 1866).
He was specifically a filesmith and cutter and appears to have had only the occasional need for a razor. (Born 1825, that's a colourised him below).
I guess a lot of us born here tend to take the scenery for granted. But, I agree, the South Island is pretty magnificent and I'm chuffed that you're advertising it for us.

Welcome to SRP. Be sure to read the section for newbies in our library. It can help you greatly when learning to shave with a straight, or buying razors, or collecting or... Trust me. Spend some time reading. It is full of great info.

Welcome, Phanta. New Zealand is indeed a beautiful place, and you're lucky
to live there. I might add that Kiwis, by and large, have a very sensible mindset.

I hope that you can find some kindred souls to share this hobby/obsession with,
there in the Land of the Long White Cloud.
