Welcome. No shortage of members in your region. There are periodic GTA meets so keep your eyes open. They are excellent places to learn and a lot of fun.

Hello and welcome. If you have questions you can of course ask but sometimes it is just as helpful or more to do a search. There is so much information here posted over the years it's amazing. But of course we are always here to help as well. The beginner's section has a number of sticky threads that will help. As Steve has likely already told you stropping is one of the most important skills to learn to maintain your razor and make sure you have good clean shaves. Take your time and be patient. It takes time to learn and there is no substitute for experience. It will take you probably 6 months to really have a good handle on it but the learning curve is different for everyone. Of course then you will possibly trip and fall into collecting razors, brushes, hones, strops or maybe several of the aforementioned. Then if you fall hard you may hit your head on restoration. Lots of bugs to be bitten by.
    Enjoy

Welcome! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have, started using straight razors just over a year ago and find it a very satisfying, meditative hobby. And one with a quite friendly following as you can see in this thread and around the Internet. I'm in Toronto to and enjoy honing so wouldn't mind refreshing an edge or two for you while you're learning if you prefer to focus on shaving at first. But I might not be super quick as I enjoy a complete lack of urgency around things shaving-related, part of what I like about it.

Funny...I'm sitting here taking a razor apart for restoration, and I was wondering what all those bumps on my head were from.
