Hi and welcome aboard. Try checking out Gssixgun on YouTube. Has lots of honing vids but has some on the Naniwas. Informative and easy to follow videos that with a bit if practice should see you able to hone. Probably best to start with just refreshing the edge unless you have a blade to practice on.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Welcome Tom - let me second the gssixgun YouTube recommendation for no nonsense instruction on honing. You might consider sending one of your razors to gssixgun(Glen) for honing so you have a reference blade when you start learning. Gemstar customs.

Hello Tom, welcome aboard.
Many guys buy their first straight for the look of the beast and the idea of shaving like John Wayne. They do not get the information about a real "shave-ready" condition and just believe what the packaging says. After one or to disastreous attempts, the straight ends in a drawer for a veeeeery loooong period.
Fortunately, some like you find forums like this one and get hope again.
I wish you the best for your future in this new world.Greetings
Johan
