Welcome! I am a retired seaman and I was at Mizuo Wharf at least a dozen times, and the old Sea-Land docks a few times back in the day. I am a bit envious because I never really got the chance to go strop, stone, and razor shopping in Yokohama or Tokyo. Tanifujis are all very nice razors. You are off to a very good start.

Konichiwa. Welcome to SRP. I love my Japanese straights, especially the Maxfli Gold.

Welcome too the SRP, I'm a self confessed Japanophile, and a massive fan of vintage Japanese razors, I also own a few.

Like DZEC said, we are jealous - in a good way You have a great selection of shaving hardware in Japan.
I myself have just stroped on Kanayama a few minutes ago - pure pleasure.
Do you care to share his workshop address? I've been to Tokyo twice in the past few years, but never have managed to find it
Perhaps, I was a bit glib in my post. Indeed, it is not such as easy place to find, a bit far from the nearest train station and in an old neighborhood in Tokyo. I am a little reluctant to reveal this address publicly. I was actually very, very lucky to find the workshop and get beyond the doorstep. The proprietor is in his eighties and a really nice gentleman but a little shy at first. I spoke to him in extremely polite Japanese and was able to talk my way in. He also asked me to telephone him ahead of time if I planned to visit him again. Send me a PM the next time you are in Tokyo and perhaps we could make arrangements to strop by (pun intended).
