Welcome to SRP. Read the begginners tips and ask questions. We are here to help. I will say that i recommend learning to shave and strop for now. And use a pro honed razor. Not one your learning to hone with. It sounds like a good idea but it will slow the learning. Trust me.
It's just Sharpening, right?
