    Default Hello from Tennessee

Found this site while looking up info on one of my Granfathers old straight razors. Looks like an old king midas special with covered tang. King Midas etched on blade and King Special on handle. What do you think

Welcome to the forum. Post photos so we or someone can help you. Do you plan to shave with it?

It looks nice. Hollow ground, covered tang, and model engraved on scales. They look like horn. I have never shaved with one but it looks nice. Someone else will probably have more info. If I find anything I'll post back. Consider having it professionally honed before you use it. Lots of people here offer that service.

    Welcome aboard

I'd keep gramps as a keepsake, and buy another for shaving. You can't replace an heirloom, if something should happen. JMHO

Im with Outback on this. Keep it and leave it be. It will need some work before its ready to shave sith and the work and honing should be done by someone who knows. Not someone trying to learn.

    BTW, Welcome to SRP.
