Thanked: 0Hey, new guy from Scotland
Hi, I'm michael, where to start, never joined a forum before, posted here by a friendly sole on fb. I just turned 48 so late to the game. Born in Toronto, live in Stirling, Scotland, 25 years police in Glasgow, 7 kids.
Shaving was always a chore, often electric in the car late for something. Inherited a Gillette British slim twist from my grandfather when he died. Never learnt how to use it till 5 years ago, loved it, bought a few more vintage safety razors and then started seeing straight razors that I thought were only the realm of old barbers.
Don't really want new but don't have the knowledge to know if a blades wrecked or well priced. Hence I'm here. I carve and whittle on the side so can keep blades sharp but different ball game. That's about it I think? thanks

Thanked: 556Hi Michael.
It’s never to late to join this game.
There is an excellent set of starter tips on the main page of the forum you should take a look at.
If you want a good deal on a straight razor (we recommend at least 2 and a decent strop so you can rotate them through use), I suggest you keep an eye out for the Buy/Sell/Trader items on this site. They come up frequently and almost always have been honed by someone who really knows what they are doing.
We have members all ovr the world and some very accomplished members in the UK.
Welcome.David

Thanked: 1081Hi Michael, welcome to SRP.
There’s a great bunch of guys here always willing to help out. As mentioned the library https://shavelibrary.com/ is a great place to start for tips and a shave ready razor can be had from the BST for a great price.
Enjoy the ride.
